Wyatt Waddell has been described as Chicago’s Boy Wonder for his complex yet unforgettable melodies and exuberant presence. his powerful and versatile vocal range moves seamlessly between the raspy timbre of James Brown and the melodic whimsy of Paul McCartney. Though his musicality recalls the old greats, Wyatt's inventive and playful approach is fully his own. A multi-instrumentalist known for his perfect pitch and instinctive songwriting, Wyatt’s talents are on full display in his upcoming single, “Time.”
The youngest child in a family of four, Wyatt grew up in Chicago’s West Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side. His grandmother taught him piano at a young age, marveling at his quick mastery. While in high school, Wyatt enrolled in Intonation Music Workshop, where he excelled in drums, bass, guitar, and vocals. His intuitive stage presence became obvious as he performed with Intonation’s citywide All-Star Band. After graduating, Wyatt stayed on as an instructor for Intonation, where he met producer Jayson Rose. The two quickly bonded over their love for songwriting greats of the past and began jamming together. This friendly collaboration quickly led to the expressive and unique sound heard today.
Rose, in partnership with Chicago media head William Giannopoulos of The Minimal Beat, has launched music development collective Rosebud to bring Wyatt Waddell to a wider audience. Wyatt has been bubbling at the edges of the Chicago underground, and is now set to bring his infectious mix of R&B, pop and funk to the rest of the world.
